The purpose of the Tutoring Center is to provide students with the opportunity to achieve academic success with the support and encouragement of peer tutors. We invite students to utilize the Center to enhance their achievement and improve the quality of their education. The Tutoring Center works hard to offer excellent tutelage in biology, scientific writing, GIS, and library research.
Fall 2014 Hours
You don't need an appointment. Just stop in the Tutor Center during the specific tutors scheduled hours. The Center is located on the first floor of the Quinney Library
Library Research w/ Cameron Lawrence Nielson
One-on-one help with information research including: Finding background material for your topic, finding peer-reviewed articles, evaluating what you find, citing what you find, and managing what you find.
Monday: 8 to 10 am
Tuesday: 1 to 3 pm
Wednesday: 9 to 11 am
Thursday: Noon to 2 pm
Friday: 8 - 10 am
Writing w/ Issy Lovato
Will work with you one-on-one, helping you with your writing. Including: reading your paper and commenting on it's logical flow of argument, proper use of quotes and other types of evidence. He can spot grammatical errors and make suggestions for how to revise a paper for greater coherence, clarity, and persuasiveness.
Monday: 11 am to 1 pm
Tuesday: 4 to 6 pm
Wednesday: 8:30 to 9:30 and 10:30 to 11:30 am
Thursday: 3 to 5 pm
Friday: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
We ask that you do the following before you come in for tutoring:
- Attend class
- Read the text
- Try all of your homework
- Prepare specific questions
