Description: The fur industry in Utah has attracted a considerable amount of attention during at least the past ten years. Persons engaged in the fur business, as well as others, interested in this industry are constantly making inquiry as to the status of fur farming with regard to other industries in the state, and also as to many of the fundamentals which are of importance and general interest.
Despite the rapid growth of fur farming in Utah, no records of histories have been made; in fact, no organized treatise of the industry exists.
The report herewith submitted was prepared largely as a result of rather extensive field work in the form of interviews and contracts, and by the use of circular letters. The information presented is known to be largely unpublished, and was assembled with considerable difficulty, owing to the personal nature of the subject, and the relatively poor response of many of those contacted. The opinions and conclusions offered, are those of the author, following his research on the problem. It is hoped, that this paper will fulfill its intended purpose by offering whatever information it may, regarding the fur industry in Utah.
